Meet Melina

Melina is the owner and creative force behind Salon MK in Plainview, with over 22 years of experience in the hair industry and a lifelong passion for beauty that started at a very young age.

She’ll never forget one childhood memory that still stays with her today. As a little girl, Melina spent hours playing with her Barbies—especially their hair. One day, she cut one of their hairstyles too short. When she realized it wouldn’t grow back, she cried, wishing she could make it long again. Her mom tried to comfort her, telling her it was okay—but even then, Melina felt how deeply hair mattered to her. Looking back, she now realizes that moment was the beginning of her passion.

Over the past two decades, Melina has dedicated herself to continuous growth in her craft. She worked her way up step by step, and whenever she felt she could no longer grow in one place, she made the brave decision to move on—seeking new opportunities to learn, evolve, and become more skilled with every passing year. She has never stopped pushing herself to be better.

Salon MK was born from Melina’s vision to create something different—a fully renovated, light and airy boho-inspired salon where clients feel beautiful and stylists feel appreciated, supported, and inspired to grow. She believes a salon should feel welcoming, empowering, and filled with positive energy.

Through passion, hard work, and heart, Melina continues to build a space rooted in creativity, community, and love for the industry she’s devoted her life to.
